– September 22nd, Thoronet, French Riviera at 7.30 p.m.: First Worldwide Concert “Semantic Works” by Jacques Dudon, with the Ensemble de Musique Microtonal du Thoronet – Tribute to Alain Daniélou and to Microtonality in Hindustani music, with Jacques Dudon, (Semantic Daniélou, chandravina, shruti-guitar, vocal), Alain Pantéléimonoff (sitar, vocal), Elisa Rucci (Semantic Daniélou), Eric Barthes (mediaeval dulcimer, udu, jaltarang).
Special guest : Thierry Hamy, plastics technician (liquid calligraphy live).
– September 17th – October 9th: the exhibition “Lumières de l’Inde” will be on show at Hainaut as part of the nationwide event “La Fureur de lire” throughout Belgium. This exhibition has been organised by Anne Ramaekers and Serge Budahazi.

First work on the history of the Kamasutra, its translation and reception in the West. It deals with the history of erotic imagery in Indian art and sculpture and with the work of Alain Daniélou (in some detail) and of Raymond Burnier in its sixth chapter.
October 2007 – October 1st Venice: press conference for the presentation of the various events forthcoming during the last quarter of 2007. – CasadeiLibri publication of Daniélou’s and Burnier’s photos of the temples of Khajuraho, Konarak and Bhuvaneshvar, as a supplement to the review Archeo.
– Inauguration of the exhibition “Lumières de l’Inde” on October 2nd in the public rooms of Hôtel de Ville of Neuilly-sur-Seine. The exhibition will be open until October 6th.
Starting from October 8th, it will transfer to the cinema “Le Village” and will be open up to October 14th.
– October 4th, Rome (Teatro Palladium): Shivaganga. Indian Kuchipudi dance performance by Shantala Shivalingappa, accompanied by four musicians.
– Up to October 23rd, the same venue will host an exhibition of photos and drawings made by Alain Daniélou during his world tour in 1936.
– Shantala Shivalingappa, famous performer in the Kuchipudi style, also known in Europe for her work with Peter Brook, Maurice Bejart, Bartabas and Pina Bausch, will be accompanied by four Indian musicians (flute, vocal, sitar, mridangam) and will perform the margam (dance programme) SHIVA GANGA as tribute to Danielou.

Alain Daniélou is perhaps the Indologist best known and most controversial of his time. Indeed, his approach to India is radically anticonformist. An artist, traveller, musicologist, it was almost by chance that he discovered India, a discovery that would last close to thirty years. A marginal figure in a family of eminent characters (a secretary of State, the founder of a religious order and a cardinal), he brought new focus on Indian culture, as well as, more generally, on other non-European cultures and pre-modern European culture itself. He was however also a man of his time, interested in the latest technological discoveries, and despite his intimate knowledge of Indian traditions, he refused to become a guru, preferring to defend freedom of thought and the struggle against all forms of colonialism.
